I've been counting down the days until mountain bike season. With the Elk Traverse looming, I was torn between wanting to ride but feeling some sort of obligation to try to train, or at least spend enough time in my boots and on my rando gear to know that everything functioned properly.
When I crossed the finish line in Aspen, my first thought was 'Holy cow, that was one of the harder things that I've done' followed by 'I can't wait to drink a pre-noon beer' which was followed closely by 'It's mountain bike season!'
After making it back to CeeBee, I wasted no time getting to the task at hand: Getting on trails.
It was a lovely ride that swelled from an original two to an impressive five women, all of whom were riders fully capable of making me hurt. They made me hurt. Ripping down a trail, I had to grin at the idea that it was a random Monday afternoon in April and we were riding.
Congrats on the Traverse performance. That is a hard-ass race. It's different than cycling and for some reason felt more painful to me. What's the next big event for ya?

Congratulations on an amazing ride! I can't imagine doing anything close to that.
